What are the minimum requirements for TalkAndWrite?
The minimum requirements are:
Skype 3,6 or higher version installed, Windows 2000, 400MHz 128 MB RAM processor, 10 MB free on hard disk, Internet connection minimum 33,6 KBps
Does TalkAndWrite work on any operational system?
No. The current version works on Windows 2000, 2003, XP and Vista.
Do other participants have to have TalkAndWrite installed on their computers?
Yes. All participants must have TalkAndWrite installed to join a meeting.
Do I need Skype installed on my computer for TalkAndWrite to run?
Yes, TalkAndWrite utilizes Skype’s platform to run, thus Skype is required to be installed on your computer.
Can I use TalkAndWrite with a dial-up connection?
Yes, but the voice transmission will be greatly weakened. Otherwise, the Skype text chat option guarantees a successful communication among the meeting participants at the same time they write/draw.
How can I install TalkAndWrite?
Click on Skype menu “Tools”, select “Extras”, and then “Get Extras”. After the Extra Manager window opens, search for TalkAndWrite icon in the “Featured” menu. Click on the green set button and then "Open". The download window will appear. Click “Run” or “Open”. Read the License Agreement and click on "I agree and accept the terms of publisher's End User License Agreement" and click on "OK". After installation is concluded, TalkAndWrite pops up on your screen and you can start collaborating.
How do I uninstall a Skype application?
To uninstall a Skype application click on Skype menu “Tools”, click on “Extras” and then “Organize my Extras”. Select the Extra “menu” and select “uninstall”.
I have installed TalkAndWrite, but it is not working. What happened?
There are two common scenarios: You are able to use TalkAndWrite offline, but you cannot start a connection: In this case, please make sure that you have allowed TalkAndWrite to use Skype. Go to Skype menu “Extras”, choose “Options”, “Advanced”, and on the bottom of the window, select “Manage other program’s access to Skype”. Select TalkAndWrite and click on “Change”. Select the option “Allow this program to use Skype” and “OK”.
You have started downloading, but you don’t see the TalkAndWrite software anywhere after that: : If you use Vista, please make sure you have allowed the program to be installed when the permission dialogue box appeared on your screen.
Why do I have to install the TalkAndWrite printer?
When you first open a file, a pop-up window comes up asking you to install the printer. The TalkAndWrite Printer is used to convert existing files into TalkAndWrite format (.taw). Once it has been installed (it usually takes 1 to 3 minutes), you are able to open any printable document, such as .doc, .xls, .pdf, images, .ppt, and so forth.
I cannot install TalkAndWrite Printer. Why?
To install the TalkAndWrite Printer, you need administrator privileges on your PC. If you have not logged in as administrator, please contact your administrator to proceed with installation.
My Skype contact hasn’t installed TalkAndWrite. Can we two have a meeting at TalkAndWrite?
All TalkAndWrite participants must have it installed on their PCs. Make sure you and your Skype contact have Skype 3.6 or above installed and running.
To install TalkAndWrite, your Skype contacts can quickly follow these steps:
Click on Skype menu Tools > Extras > Get Extras.
Search for TalkAndWrite icon in the “Featured” menu and click on the green set button > Open.
Accept the license agreement.
When opening the whiteboard, an invitation window comes up together. Select one or more friends from the contact list and then click on “Start” to send them the invitation.
Can’t I send invitation to my friends via Skype?
Now, invitations are exclusively sent via TalkAndWrite. All participants must have TalkAndWrite installed and opened (system tray icon indicates TalkAndWrite is opened).
To invite friends, open TalkAndWrite and the invitation window will come up automatically on your screen: select and add one or more friends, and then click on “start” on the same window.
* If you are already using TalkAndWrite, click on the big green button located on the top left hand side of TalkAndWrite screen to send invitation.
I cannot start the meeting. Why?
Please check the following:
If you and your friends are online and if Skype is working properly.
If you and your friends have the same TalkAndWrite version (in TalkAndWrite screen click on menu Help > About TalkAndWrite).
* Tip: To activate the communication channel via Skype, call your friends before inviting them to use TalkAndWrite. If there are any communication errors, it will connect you after calling them.
I have started the connection, but my friend did not receive my request. What should I do?
The request may have been lost. Check if your friends have TalkAndWrite opened and if they appear to be online in Skype. To test and confirm an active connection, send them chat messages via Skype or call them. After that try to invite them again by clicking on the green set button to start a meeting.
The file I am trying to upload is too large. Is there any alternative and faster way I could upload files in a meeting, instead of automatically page by page transferring?
Yes, if you have a large file, instead of doing page by page transferring, you could open the document to be worked on in TalkAndWrite and then save it as background (Menu “File”, select “Save Background”). Send it to your friends by e-mail or via Skype. When they open it, they will have a precise copy of your file. Once they all have the same background opened and are online, you can invite them to start a meeting.
I’m not able to open a doc, pdf, xls, etc type documents.
Try to open the document using the original program. For example, if it is a .doc file, open Microsoft Word. Then, print it using the TalkAndWrite printer. If it is still not working, reinstall TalkAndWrite (As it could be that TalkAndWrite’s virtual printer has been removed accidentally). Reinstall the program using the new version on clicking here!
It appears a synchronizing window during meetings. What is happening?
Synchronizing is a common action. It is automatically performed by the program every time a loss of data happenes during transmission.
Synchronization has stopped. What should I do?
You should disconnect and then reconnect with your friends. Synchronization will continue from where it has stopped.
Tip: While synchronizing, try to use minimal audio and video transmission (click on the “Hold voice connection button”) to enable optimal data transmission.
Is a MousePen required to use the program?
No. However, with a Mouse Pen you can create hand draw illustrations, as well as write notes in your own handwriting instead of typing, allowing higher quality writing and drawings.
How many people can collaborate in a meeting?
PRO version supports up to 10 participants in one meeting.
What files can I open on TalkAndWrite?
You can upload any printable document, such as .doc, .xls, .pdf, .jpg, .ppt and so forth.
How can I insert my company logo on TalkAndWrite screen?strong>
To add your company logo, go to TalkAndWrite Menu “Help”, and click on “Options”. On the “Personalization” field, add a URL address where you host your logo (webpage with logo image). Then, save it. Your company logo appears automatically on TalkAndWrite screen.
How do I lock/unlock participant actions?
On TalkAndWrite screen, there is a lock/unlock button on the bottom line of the participants box (right hand side of TalkAndWrite screen). The same button is used to lock/unlock participants’ actions.
If you wish to lock/unlock participants one by one, click on the little lock icon closed to their names in the participants’ box.
When I drag up/down the scroll bar, can other participants see it?
Yes, every time somebody drags the scroll bar up or down, all the other participants are able to see it, as their scroll bars move simultaneously.
Can BASIC and PRO users collaborate together? If yes, do they have same features?
Yes, they can collaborate together. BASIC users make use of PRO features, as long as the PRO user is the meeting host. For that, the PRO user must invite the other BASIC participants to join a meeting.
When PRO and BASIC users are in the same meeting, do they have unlimited timed session?
Yes, if the host of the meeting is a PRO user. To be the host of the meeting, the PRO user has to invite all the other participants..
How many participants can collaborate together in a meeting?

- PRO users can have up to 10 participants in a meeting.
